Vaccination An Effective Way To Treat Cervical Cancer

Cervical cancer vaccines are an effective way to treat the virus that causes cervical cancers. Each year nearly 11,000 women are affected by the virus in United States. Cervical cancer stands second among the most significant death causes in women. Cervical cancer is curable if treatment is done at proper time. A pap smear test is an effective way to test presence of cancerous cells in cervix that leads to cervical cancer.

HPV (Human Papilloma Virus) is the main cause of disease and it is through vaccination that you get rid of some of cancer causing strains in HPV. Cervical cancer vaccination should be done by girls in the age group of 12. The vaccination can also be started from 9. The idea is to vaccinate the body before exposure to sexual contact, but it is also recommended that sexually active women should get vaccinated up to age of 26.

Women at younger age should start vaccinations, reason being that the vaccines are more effective for those women who have not been exposed to specific HPV causing cervical cancer. The vaccines are injected in thigh or arm in three phases. Second vaccination is given 1-2 months after the first and the last six months after first.

The vaccines are easily available with any of the health care provider. If you are tested positive in pap smear test, then treatment should be initiated along with vaccines taken at regular intervals. It is recommended that vaccines should be taken at the perfect schedule without making any delays.
