Studies have also revealed that circumcision in men also reduce cases of cervical cancer in women, as men undergoing circumcision are less likely to transmit HPV causing cervical cancer to women during sexual intercourse.
In United States , 55 to 65 percent of new born boys are circumcised, but the rate differs from one region to another within the country. This procedure is extensively followed in Canada , United States and the Middle East, when compared to Africa, Asia, Central America, South America and the Europe .
Steps should be taken to increase practice of circumcision in Africa, as this would significantly reduce one of the deadly sexual transmitted diseases (STD) in Africa . Even if one tests positive for cervical cancer, test and treatment should be carried out in order to recover from the disease soon. Pap smear is the common test to check for presence of cancerous cells in the cervix of women.
